one week

We have been parents for a whole week! You know what they say, time flies when you're having babies.
Cate is really a great baby. She hardly ever cries, and we've had 2 nights now where the only time she was awake was when she was eating. Cory and I really like to curl up and take naps with her, but we try not to do it very often so she will learn to sleep by herself. The first couple of days she was held so much that she wouldn't sleep anywhere except someone's arms.
And for those of you who are curious to know about all the diaper-changing hilarity, there have been at least six occasions in the last 24 hours in which she has tinkled on something (or someone) other than her diaper. She's a little sneak. Now, for the part you really care about: more pictures!
This is what she looks like when she wants to eat your face.
She likes to sun bathe with Daddy. We have to put her in the window (like a little flower, her grandma said) so she won't turn yellow.
So tiny in her crib!
How you doin'?
Finally, a family shot... (thanks, Diana).

our new love

I just wanted to take a second to introduce you to Catherine Evonne. She is absolutely perfect. She surprised us all by coming a week before we were scheduled to induce. My water broke at 6 am, we were in labor for hours and hours, I started pushing around 11 pm and she was brought into the world by c-section at 12:24 am on April 8th. She does things on her own time schedule. :)
She is 7 pounds, 10 ounces, and 21 1/2 inches long, and she makes the most adorable squeaking noises and fish faces. We are so happy to be able to hold Baby Cate in our arms. Loads more pictures to come!

Check out Wide Open, the new blog of my very talented personal photographer. Cory's been working on it for several days now, and he's been a little apprehensive about sharing it. I got the go ahead today, though, to present it to the internet world. He's got some great sports shots as well as portraits.

I do have to say that I'm a little worried about the fate of my blog's pictures. I love being able to share all of his great photos, but now I'm sure he'll want to save all the good stuff for his own blog. I'm afraid my blog will sink into a visually appalling abyss. Maybe I can convince him to share a few with me occasionally...or at least distract him long enough so I can steal some.
